Inlet and exhaust ducts are essential to the efficiency of gas turbine installations. Custom-engineered in carbon or stainless steel, they are designed for structural integrity under severe environmental and operating conditions, from the turbine intake through to the exhaust.
Overview
Albizzati S.p.A. manufactures inlet and exhaust ducts and conveyors reaching heights of up to 5 metres, for a maximum combustion air flow of 1,188,000 m³/h. The ducts are engineered to withstand demanding ordinary conditions as well as extraordinary events such as sudden temperature changes or external hazards, ensuring maximum system efficiency throughout operation. Each assembly is custom-engineered in accordance with project requirements and site operating conditions.
Inlet ducts and conveyors
Inlet ducts and conveyors carry the filtered combustion air from the filter house to the turbine intake. Geometry, stiffening and acoustic treatment are defined project by project to match the turbine manufacturer’s interface and the plant layout.
Exhaust ducts and stacks
Exhaust ducts convey the hot turbine exhaust gases to the stack or to downstream equipment, with materials and thermal design selected for the operating temperature. Free-standing steel exhaust stacks from 2,000 to 5,000 mm in diameter are manufactured at the Magenta plant as CE-marked construction products under EN 13084-7:2012.
Materials and installation
Ducts are fabricated in carbon steel or stainless steel for onshore and offshore installation. The structural design covers pressure, temperature, wind and snow loads and seismic actions, ensuring performance and integrity under all installation conditions. Our references include inlet and exhaust ducts for Frame 9 class heavy-duty gas turbines and Hastelloy scrubber filters for corrosive service.
What is included
Ducts are supplied as complete assemblies with stiffeners, supports, expansion joints interfaces, access and inspection provisions as specified, prepared for site installation. Surface preparation and coating are carried out in-house in sandblasting and painting rooms up to 17 × 45 m, to the client’s painting cycle.
Testing and compliance
Every assembly undergoes fit-up assembly in the workshop, dimensional control, non-destructive examination (MT, UT and RT), liquid penetrant testing and visual inspection before delivery. Fabrication is carried out under ISO 9001:2015, ISO 3834-2:2021, EN 1090, CSA W47.1, A660 Canadian Standard, EN 13084-7:2012 and ISO 45001:2018, with the ASME U-Stamp available for pressure parts. See our quality and certifications page.
