Static or pulse-jet self-cleaning

Bag, compact and panel filter stages

Onshore and offshore installation

Filter houses for gas turbine installations are critical components for proper turbine operation: they filter the incoming combustion air and remove harmful particles, protecting the turbine from erosion, fouling and corrosion while maintaining clean inlet air and optimal operating conditions.

Overview

Albizzati S.p.A. engineers and manufactures filter houses to project requirements, with a maximum combustion air flow of 1,188,000 m³/h. Each filter chamber is designed around the turbine, the site and the client’s specification: air flow, filtration stages, materials and structural loads are defined project by project, never taken from a catalogue. Bag filters, compact filters and panel filters are used as pre-filtration and filtration stages, in the combination required by the ambient dust load and the turbine manufacturer’s inlet air requirements.

Static configuration

Static filter houses use multi-stage filter elements that are replaced at scheduled maintenance intervals. The filtration train, the access platforms and the weather protection are dimensioned for the installation site.

Pulse-jet self-cleaning configuration

In pulse-jet configurations, an automatic cleaning cycle removes the dust accumulated on the filter elements, eliminating the need for frequent filter element replacement and significantly reducing maintenance requirements. This is the configuration of choice where the plant must run continuously in dusty environments.

Materials and installation

Filter houses are built in carbon steel or stainless steel, for onshore and offshore installation. The structural design covers pressure, temperature, wind and snow loads and seismic actions, so that performance and integrity are ensured under all installation conditions. Surface preparation and painting are carried out in our own sandblasting and painting rooms, to the client’s coating specification.

What is included

Each solution includes a full electro-instrumentation package for continuous performance monitoring. Detailed installation and maintenance manuals are supplied with every unit, and a comprehensive risk analysis assessment is performed for each project. Filter houses are typically supplied together with the inlet ducts and conveyors that carry the filtered air to the turbine, engineered as one assembly to avoid interface problems on site.

Testing and compliance

Before delivery, every filter house undergoes smoke test tightness verification, lifting proof test, full trial fit-up, dimensional control, non-destructive examination (MT, UT and RT), liquid penetrant testing and visual inspection. Fabrication is carried out under ISO 9001:2015, ISO 3834-2:2021 welding quality, EN 1090, CSA W47.1 and A660 Canadian Standard, EN 13084-7 for free-standing stacks and ISO 45001:2018, with the ASME U-Stamp available for pressure parts. See our quality and certifications page.

Filter houses are manufactured by Albizzati S.p.A. within the Group’s 100% in-house production cycle, from engineering and fabrication to testing and packing for shipment. Contact us with your turbine data and site conditions.
